Benefits of Partial Hospitalization

partial hospitalization

Partial hospitalization adds an additional layer of care and supervision during addiction treatment. This popular form of drug and alcohol addiction treatment is known as a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Read on to learn more about Liberty Bay’s PHP and how it can help you maintain your life while receiving the treatment you need. If you have a substance use disorder, then you may qualify for PHP. PHP offers a way for you to regain control of your life. Contact Liberty Bay Recovery Center today at (855) 607-8758 if you’re unsure whether you qualify for PHP.

What Is Partial Hospitalization?

The partial hospitalization program is a hybrid of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. Your days consist of treatment, counseling, therapy, and multiple activities, while your nights are spent at home or in a sober house. PHP gives clients the ability to go back to work, go to school, or go home and see their families at night. Each person has a unique story, and the tale of your addiction determines where you will go after hours. You are interviewed by experienced medical staff and placed into the best program for your situation.

Benefits of a Partial Hospitalization Program

The mixture of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services creates the perfect treatment environment for those who’ve completed inpatient care. PHP offers intense treatment during the day, and clients may find themselves taking homework for night studies. Some of the other benefits include:

  • Individual and group therapy sessions
  • Professional interaction on a daily basis
  • Eases the transition from inpatient to outpatient rehabilitation services
  • Generally costs less than inpatient service
  • Flexible scheduling to help with outside commitments
  • Urine drug screenings
  • Medication assistance

A PHP offers the benefits of both worlds and allows you to integrate easily into the outside world again.

What Can I Expect During Daily Inpatient Services

The inpatient services part of the PHP is the exact routing you experience during regular inpatient services but is more intense. In fact, you have access to all the activities and medical services regular inpatient clients have access to. A couple of examples include:

Yoga and Meditation

Yoga is a great tool to relax the mind and body. You may not find time to continue this exercise between PHP and work, so this feature gives you the ability to continue.

Weekly Counseling Sessions

Just because you’re out in the world doesn’t mean you don’t need help occasionally. These services give you an avenue to speak your mind and find out where your treatment is heading. If you need more than weekly counseling, just ask.

Inpatient services are present to help keep you on track. Every time you step back into the facility, you have access to all the great programs you had as an inpatient client.

Is PHP a Stand-Alone Program?

In very rare cases, it is possible to enter a PHP by itself, but that is not what it is intended for. Clients should complete a solid inpatient program first, and then instead of jumping into an outpatient program, they can participate in the PHP. Designed to last around 30 days, the PHP is the perfect aftercare program. However, those who have relapsed can get into a PHP. If you have been to rehab before and have recently relapsed, talk to our project coordinator about PHP. If you meet the criteria, you may be able to enter the PHP.
